"Happy OBON ! お盆！！"

(OBON is an annual event in Japan.
it is a Buddhist ceremony honoring the spirits of the dead,
who return once a year to visit their families.)


In the depth of summer, it was OBON time all across Japan.
One verrrrrrry hot day,
I received a greeting from one pretty foreign girl.
" Happy OBON"
She whispered to me with a bright smile and a sexy wink.

For 2 seconds I froze--
I was immediately confused by her gesture.

---Is OBON happy time?
---Was what she said appropriate? I don't think so.
---How should I reply " You too, thanks"

I was not sure, but my time was limited.
Finally I said to her
" Thank you, you too!"( Ahhhh---)

I surprised myelf.
I was ashamed of myself.
I regretted it deeply,
but I don't have a navel to bite any more.
I've bittten it through & through already.


By the way,
there was a old man standing the platform
at Takadanobaba station this morning
who had a hat with a pinwheel on it.
Fortunately, it was a little windy
and the bamboo propellers spun a bit.

Takadanobaba area is always funny, isn't it?


この激暑の中、日本中が「お盆」。
だからといって、まさかBlue Parrot で
こういうあいさつが聞かれる、とは思っていなかった。

開店と同時に、
「HAPPY OBON ！！／ハッピー、お盆！！」
----と、若くてきれいな金髪女性に、ささやくように言われた。
セクシーなウインクと一緒にね。

三つの未確認事項で、わたしの頭の中は2秒間混乱。
　　＊お盆ってハッピーなんだっけ？？
　　＊ウインクと一緒に、ささやくように言う類いのことだっけ？
　　＊「あなたも！」って、分かち合うことが可能だったっけ？？

わたしは、整理がつかないまま、時間切れで--
Thank you, you too,　って言ってしまった！！（ああーッ。）

毎度のことだが、
自分自身の言動に、開いた口がふさがらない。
もはや，噛む臍もないし( 噛み尽くした---）

でも、まあいいか！！


それはともかく、今朝、電車のホームで、
帽子のてっぺんに、竹とんぼをさして、歩いているおじさんがいた。
幸いなことに，少しばかり風があったので、
二枚の竹の羽は、不安定ながら、くるくる回っていた。

高田馬場はTV より面白いね。
